Payment milestones

Use payment milestones to describe your expected payment structure based on progress, deliverables, due-dates and pricing

• Choose a preset based on equal progress payments, or create custom milestones
• Schedule due dates based on deal / phase progress, relative days or fixed dates
• Calculate price as a percent of total deal value or as a fixed amount

Like everything in Estii, dynamic milestones automatically adjust to changes to your deal price and duration, and are presented as beautiful waterfall charts within proposals.

Setup milestones

Payment milestones are located on the deal > overview tab.

1. Click Add milestones to open the milestone dialog window.
2. Choose a preset, or select Custom to create your own. You can also customise a preset once it is selected.

You can choose from a range of preset payment structures based on deal progress (such as all upfront, all on completion, 50/50 split or equal thirds)

Preset milestones

Preset milestones contain an even price split across one or more equal progress points.

• Click from start to toggle the date of the first milestones (deal start vs first progress point).
• Edit the milestone name
• Add an optional description for deliverables and assumptions
• To edit the due date or amount, click customise

Custom milestones

You can add up to 8 custom milestones with custom dependencies, due dates and amounts

• Dependency - options include
  • deal - a percent of progress within the deal
  • phase - a percent of progress within a specific phase
  • fixed date - a fixed date before, during or after the deal (unlike other dependencies, fixed dates do not update automatically when deal schedule changes)
  • before deal - a fixed number of days before the deal start
  • after deal - a fixed number of days after the deal end
• Progress
  • Either the percent of deal/phase progress, or a number of days if before/after deal
  • Not editable if dependency is a fixed date
• Due date - calculated automatically, unless dependency is a fixed date
• Percent - the amount as a percent of total deal value
• Amount - a fixed amount (in space currency), or calculated automatically based on percent
• Price - the final calculated price including rounding (read only)

A few considerations:

• If you create due dates that are out of order, a button will appear to reorder by date
• When editing amount, subsequent milestones will adjust to reflect the remaining value.
• If there is no remaining price, percent and amout inputs will be disabled
• Milestones with no value ($0) are filtered out of the chart (when there are more than 2 milestones)

Milestone settings

Milestones include the following settings:

• Round up dates - day (default), start of next week, end of current month
• Round prices - (nearest $100, $1K, $5K or $10K in deal currency)
• Payment terms - optional formatted text to include in the proposal appendix template

There are a few cases where the rounding settings are ignored:

• Round up date is ignored for milestones scheduled for deal start, or with fixed dates
• Round price is ignored for the final milestone (which will always contain the remaining value)

The overview templates displays the same chart as inside the deal.

Appendix (list)

The appendix template also includes milestone descriptions and any additional payment terms

Export deal

Deal export will automatically include milestones if they exist.
